How to use the Each-Way Place Calculator
1. Input Your Data: Enter a player's estimated real prices for Win, Top 5, and Top 10, along with the odds, fraction, and places (min 4, max 12) for the two bookmakers you wish to compare - in decimal format. You can find the best odds using an odds comparison site such as Oddschecker (see Player Price Estimates below)
2. Calculate the Edges: Click 'Calculate' to see the edges for both the win and place parts of the bookmaker odds, as well as the combined edge.
The calculator separates Each-Way bets into the win and place parts, displaying the edge for each and the overall edge. It estimates the place odds from the bookmaker by using your Top 5 and Top 10 odds, combined with the win edge, to identify the better place terms. With accurate price estimates the tool can also indentify e/w betting value if the Total Edge exceeds 200%.
Player Price Estimates
These are your true odds (without any margin) for a player's win, top 5, and top 10 probabilities. They can be your own estimates or derived from exchange or bookmaker prices. The calculator uses these odds to derive place prices for positions from top 4 to top 12.
For exchange odds, use the BUY odds or the mid-point of the BUY/SELL spread for an accurate price estimate. In exchange markets with low liquidity, bookmaker odds will be more reliable, though you should account for the market over-round. Use an odds comparison site like Oddschecker to find the best prices and apply a progressively larger over-round percentage as the odds increase (e.g., 5% for Evens, 10% for 6.0, 20% for 50.0). For win odds, use the win-only market (sometimes called enhanced win) offered by bookmakers again estimating an appropriate over-round.
